EYPCO – Part 3: Song Composition

Dear saints, One of the most enjoyable parts of the EYPC every year is the presentation of newly composed songs. These songs become a gift, so to say, to the saints in the recovery as they facilitate more enjoyment of Christ. Even some of the songs that we will be singing this year during the EYPCO were composed during the EYPC last year. Beginning this weekend, any songs which you will compose can be submitted here. The final deadline for submitting songs is Monday, 10 August and the top songs will be presented during Part 4 of the EYPCO on Saturday, 29 August. You can also view the song composition video through the Conference Portal. Practical points to consider when composing a new song: Make sure your tune facilitates the release of the spirit or outpouring of the saints’ love for the Lord. You can compose a song using your own words, verses from the Bible, outline points, or portions from the spoken messages.   Make sure your tune and the content of the song match each other in a good way.   Singability is very important. The song should be easy for the saints to learn without “tricky” spots. Another thing to watch out for is similar words which repeat themselves in the same song. If similar (but not exact) phrases are repeated but have the same tune, it can be confusing to the saints when singing.   As much as possible, try to keep the meter of your stanzas the same. What is meter? A hymn’s meter indicates how many syllables are in each line of the hymn. If you open a LSM hymnal, you’ll see that most of the hymns have the meter indicated at the top of the hymn. For example, if a hymn’s meter is 8.6.8.6., that means the first line of each stanza has 8 syllables, the second line has 6 syllables, and so on.Once you have your tune, see what the meter is, and if you have more than one stanza in your song, try your best to make sure the meter is the same for each stanza. This will make your song more “singable.” For the sake of your song being translated into other languages, it doesn’t hurt to have a repetition of certain words or lines in your song. This makes it easier to translate your song into other languages. Often words in other languages have more syllables than words in English. For example, in the song “If we have an affectionate love, an affectionate love for the Lord Jesus,” the repetition of the words “an affectionate love” gives the translators more flexibility when translating the song into their language. If you would like to join this year’s song composition activity, please start as soon as possible! The composition is not connected to your activity group, so you will have to use your own spare time to compose, sing, and record. Follow these three steps: Make notes on the conference messages. This will aid you in creating your song. Start composing your song during and after this weekend (individually or with a companion). When completed, submit an individual (or small group) recording of your song by Monday, 10 August at 12:00pm CEST using this link. The top 10 songs (approximately) will be chosen. If your song is chosen, you will need to record the final instrumental backing track and virtually gather a group of saints to sing your song. We will help you do a group recording using phone microphones and some audio editing software. This has proven to work quite well. More information will be emailed to you, so please check your inbox! The songs will be played during Part 4 of the conference; however, it is possible that some songs may be presented during Part 3 of the EYPCO, if submitted by Lord’s Day, 02 August at 08:00am CEST. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God (Col. 3:16)!  EYPCO Serving …

Dear saints, Thank you for registering for the online European Young Peoples’s Conference. We thank the Lord that so many young people from all over the world have a heart to be gathered together and receive the Lord’s present speaking. May we be those who respond to Him in these days to turn the age. Below are some important announcements and statistics, and a new video about the conference: Joining by Groups We are happy to report that many saints have registered; however, we realise that many of you still need help forming a group: 3,800 began a registration. 3,450 approved so far. 2,485 in groups. 920 still need a group. Below is some fresh fellowship about the burden of the conference and forming groups: Final Deadline to Join Groups The deadline to join a group is 18:00 CEST on Wednesday 13 May 2020: Los Angeles, USA | 09:00 PDTHouston, USA | 11:00 CDTNew York City, USA | 12:00 EDTBuenos Aires, AR | 13:00 ARTLondon, UK | 17:00 BSTKraków, Poland | 18:00 CESTJerusalem, Israel | 19:00 IDTMoscow, Russia | 19:00 MSK Everyone must be in a group! If you do not join a group by 18:00 CEST on Wednesday, then you will be added to a group by your Country Coordinator or by the Registration Team. However, it would help if you would choose your own group! If groups are too small or too large, or are unevenly balanced, then they may be rearranged by your Country Coordinator or the Registration Team. Do you know someone who didn’t register on time? Late registrations for Part 1 will not be accepted. However, the message will be posted online, and registration will reopen for the subsequent parts of the conference. Note: If you are registered, you will NOT need to register again for later parts of the conference! Announcements for Serving Ones and Helpers Everyone must join a group to participate in the conference. Any serving one or helper who is not in a group with young people may join a serving ones’ group. These will also be split by Junior/Senior, gender, and language. How to join a serving ones’ group: Log in to your registration form. Click on the ‘Join Group’ button. Scroll to the very bottom of the page to the section ‘Join Serving One and Helpers Group’. Click on ‘Join Group’. For saints who registered to serve practically: If you have not been contacted personally to serve practically, please just enjoy the conference! You do not need to change your status unless you would like to be in a group with young people. If you registered before yesterday, you were automatically assigned to the Senior Conference. If you want to change to the Junior Conference you need to login, change your Conference on page 3, then leave your current group (if you are in one) and rejoin a group in the correct Conference. Dear young people, helpers, and serving ones,

We hope you are looking forward to Part 4 of the European Young People’s Conference online. Here are some important announcements:

Final Project Deadline

This is a reminder that the project deadline is TOMORROW, 19 August at 10pm CEST. Here is the submission form which you will also find on the Activities page in the Conference Portal.

All the rapid prototype submissions can be viewed below.

Song Composition

Thank you for all of your song submissions! 70 songs were submitted, and we have enjoyed listening to all of them. We have selected four of these songs to be presented during Part 4 of the EYPCO. In the meantime, the submitted songs will be added to the showcase below over the next few days so keep checking back to see if yours has been added! These will also be available in the Conference Portal.

Morning Revival

Based on the messages given during this Conference, we have prepared some material that can be used during your morning revival time. We believe this will be a great help in your aspiration to become a person who will turn this age. The Lord is ready to meet us every morning and infuse us with His preciousness so that we would become worthy to be stolen by Him at His coming.

This morning revival material is composed of six days of reading each week for a total of 10 weeks. You can share you enjoyment in the Lord’s Day meetings for the building up of the church. The material is available in English as well as in many other languages powered by Google Translate. Amen, come, Lord Jesus!

Testimony Submission for Part 4

Let us know if you would like to share a short (2 minutes) testimony during Part 4 of the EYPCO on Saturday, 29 August related to how you came to know Christ personally. Please submit your testimony no later than Friday, 28 August.

Recording of Part 4 Fellowship

If you were unable to join the fellowship time last Saturday, please watch the recording below. This fellowship is related to the burden for Part 4 of the EYPCO and how we can all participate.

Much grace to your all,

EYPC Registration Team

FAQs

  • The layout of my portal looks funny or some parts are missing, what can I do?
Try to force-refresh the browser (Ctrl-F5, Ctrl-R, Cmd-F5, or Cmd-R), and try to log out and log in. If it still looks strange, please contact the Live Chat and let us know what browser and device you are using.
  • How do we do the verse memorisation?
Simply remember and speak the verse reference and verse without looking to someone else who can say if you got the verse correct – a serving one, parent, companion, or sibling! Mark on your outline that it has been completed and count them up at the end! You may do this with any verse that is printed in the outline, and in any language.

conference messages updates

Dear saints,

One of the most enjoyable parts of the EYPC every year is the presentation of newly composed songs.

Practical points to consider when composing a new song:

  1. Make sure your tune facilitates the release of the spirit or outpouring of the saints’ love for the Lord.

  2. You can compose a song using your own words, verses from the Bible, outline points, or portions from the spoken messages.

  3. Make sure your tune and the content of the song match each other in a good way.

  4. Singability is very important. The song should be easy for the saints to learn without “tricky” spots. Another thing to watch out for is similar words which repeat themselves in the same song. If similar (but not exact) phrases are repeated but have the same tune, it can be confusing to the saints when singing.

  5. As much as possible, try to keep the meter of your stanzas the same. What is meter? A hymn’s meter indicates how many syllables are in each line of the hymn. If you open a LSM hymnal, you’ll see that most of the hymns have the meter indicated at the top of the hymn. For example, if a hymn’s meter is 8.6.8.6., that means the first line of each stanza has 8 syllables, the second line has 6 syllables, and so on.
Once you have your tune, see what the meter is, and if you have more than one stanza in your song, try your best to make sure the meter is the same for each stanza. This will make your song more “singable.”

  6. For the sake of your song being translated into other languages, it doesn’t hurt to have a repetition of certain words or lines in your song.

Follow these three steps:

  1. Make notes on the conference messages. This will aid you in creating your song.
  2. Start composing your song during and after this weekend (individually or with a companion).
  3. When completed, submit an individual (or small group) recording of your song by Monday, 10 August at 12:00pm CEST using this link. The top 10 songs (approximately) will be chosen.
  4. If your song is chosen, you will need to record the final instrumental backing track and virtually gather a group of saints to sing your song. We will help you do a group recording using phone microphones and some audio editing software. This has proven to work quite well. More information will be emailed to you, so please check your inbox!

conference registration updates

Praise the Lord! Part 1 of EYPCO took place on Saturday the 16th of May with thousands of young people and saints participating from across the world. We pray this conference will help group the young people together to be pursuing companions in order to meet God’s need. Individually, we are weak; together, we are strong!

For those who were unable to join the first meeting of the Conference, there is now the opportunity to register for the three remaining events that will take place over the coming months.

The dates for the remaining events are:

  1. Part 2: Saturday, 20th June
  2. Part 3: Friday, 31st July – Monday, 3rd August
  3. Part 4: Saturday, 29th August

To register, please visit ypconference.eu. The registration deadline for Part 2 is 14 June at midnight GMT. Please note that:

  1. Saints who already registered for Part 1 do NOT need to re-register.
  2. Saints who started the registration process but missed the previous deadline for completing it can now log into their account and complete their form.
  3. Young people who are registering for the first time can either join an existing group or start a new one with their companions.

We would like to encourage burdened saints and parents to sign up even if they do not have a group of young people to serve with directly. The Conference has the potential to have a lasting impact on our young people and they will be greatly helped by the participation and prayer of the saints.

May the Lord continue to bless the EYPC Online and advance in the young people in the Lord’s recovery from all over the world.

conference updates

Dear saints,

Thank you for registering for the online European Young Peoples’s Conference. We thank the Lord that so many young people from all over the world have a heart to be gathered together and receive the Lord’s present speaking. May we be those who respond to Him in these days to turn the age.

Below are some important announcements and statistics, and a new video about the conference:

Joining by Groups

We are happy to report that many saints have registered; however, we realise that many of you still need help forming a group:

  • 3,800 began a registration.
  • 3,450 approved so far.
  • 2,485 in groups.
  • 920 still need a group.

Below is some fresh fellowship about the burden of the conference and forming groups:

Final Deadline to Join Groups

The deadline to join a group is 18:00 CEST on Wednesday 13 May 2020:

Los Angeles, USA | 09:00 PDT
Houston, USA | 11:00 CDT
New York City, USA | 12:00 EDT
Buenos Aires, AR | 13:00 ART
London, UK | 17:00 BST
Kraków, Poland | 18:00 CEST
Jerusalem, Israel | 19:00 IDT
Moscow, Russia | 19:00 MSK

Everyone must be in a group!

Announcements for Serving Ones and Helpers

Everyone must join a group to participate in the conference. Any serving one or helper who is not in a group with young people may join a serving ones’ group. These will also be split by Junior/Senior, gender, and language.

How to join a serving ones’ group:

  1. Log in to your registration form.
  2. Click on the ‘Join Group’ button.
  3. Scroll to the very bottom of the page to the section ‘Join Serving One and Helpers Group’.
  4. Click on ‘Join Group’.

For saints who registered to serve practically:

  1. If you have not been contacted personally to serve practically, please just enjoy the conference! You do not need to change your status unless you would like to be in a group with young people.
  2. If you registered before yesterday, you were automatically assigned to the Senior Conference. If you want to change to the Junior Conference you need to login, change your Conference on page 3, then leave your current group (if you are in one) and rejoin a group in the correct Conference.

Grace to you all,
